As 2019 draws to an end, EuroCham remains as active as ever to serve your interest!
We are also making our own contribution to the capacity building of the private sector through the series of training courses we are hosting, with at least two sessions per months now – and more to come! In December, we will release the results of our Business Confidence Survey and have invited the Minster attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia to comment and share his views on the challenges and opportunities in the Kingdom’s current business climate.
All these actions are only possible because of your trust and support, for which we are deeply grateful.
While we will continue to meet in December, I take this opportunity to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to those who will celebrate.

On 21 November 2019, at The Great Duke Hotel Phnom Penh, EuroCham hosted thenew edition of its Tax Forum. The largest event of the year, this 4th edition gathered once again more than 500 participants!
On this occasion, leading tax professionals and high-level officials from the General Department of Taxation (GDT) discussed recent changes in Cambodia’s Tax Regulations as well as practices and challenges related to tax compliance, especially how to address the gap between compliant and non compliant businesses. The forum was once again presided over by H.E Mr. Kong Vibol, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director-General of the General Department of Taxation.
As usual, each panel was followed by a Q&A session allowing the audience to directly engage with all speakers. VIEW PHOTOS!
On 18 November at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, EuroCham, in collaboration with the National Commercial Arbitration Centre of Cambodia and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, hosted a workshop ondeal making and dispute resolution in commercial transactions.
This workshop featured panel discussions with national and international experts about deal making with foreign partners, common challenges in M&A deals and dispute resolutions for cross-border transactions. Each session was followed by Q&A with the audience.

Following a very productive meeting in October with His Excellency Mr. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to introduce the EuroCham White Book 2019, the EuroCham Team together with the Agri-Biz committee representatives met His Excellency Mr. Hong Narith, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to further discuss technical points in detail, on 6 November. During this extensive meeting, EuroCham and the Ministry were able to achieve more progress and dialogue through in-depth review of several White Book recommendations for agribusiness.
On Thursday 7 November 2019, EuroCham received a constructive response to the White Book 2019. EuroCham and its Real Estate and Construction Committee representatives had the privilege to meet His Excellency Dr. Pen Sophal, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction to start the dialogue on Real Estate and Construction recommendations. His Excellency Dr. Sophal also mentioned the current and future regulation updates of the Royal Government especially the Law on Construction which has recently been adopted and come into force.
On Friday 1 November 2019, the EuroCham Real Estate and Construction Committee held their Annual General meeting (AGM). EuroCham is pleased to announce that Mr. Michel Cassagnes (Archetype) was re-elected as Chairman, Mr. Simon Vancliff (WorldBridge) was re-elected as Vice-Chairman for Real Estate and Mr. Charles Amar (DFDL) was re-elected as Vice-Chairman for Construction. EuroCham would like to congratulate and express our high appreciation towards their contribution to the committee.
We are glad to inform you that the EuroCham Healthcare Committee held their Annual General meeting on 22 November 2019. Following another active year, Mr. Jean-Gaetan Guillemaud (Zuellig Pharma) was unanimously re-elected as Chairman, and Ms. Tess Richard (DKSH) was unanimously elected as Vice-Chairwoman succeeding to Mr. Thomas Thiebault (DKSH) and Ms. Cecile Ga (Servier) who were respectively Vice-Chairman and Vice-Chairwoman. We would like to thank Mr. Thiebault and Ms. Ga for their active support over the past very dynamic mandate.
On 29 November, our members, Khmer Green Charcoal, Coca Cola and Decathlon, joined a Career talk organised by the EuroCham HR Committee and Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) at the Royal University of Law and Economics.
This was the second edition of our student and industry meet-up at RULE, which successfully gathered 62 final year Bachelor students in Economics and Management including students from the French cooperation department with Lyon 2 University in France.
Our expert speakers shared their work experience, current trends and professional opportunities within the sector, while students were able to interact directly through a Q&A and 1-to-1 discussions.

On the 23 and 24 November 2019, EuroCham Cambodia hosted its second 2-day Training Course on "Logistics and Supply Chain Management" at the Factory Phnom Penh. In this interactive course, our expert trainer, Dr. Thomas Fernandez, taught participants the various concepts of supply chain management, and how to develop supply chain strategies for their companies. EuroCham Cambodia organized a 2-Day Training Course on "Email & Business Correspondence", on 27 and 28 November at the FACTORY Phnom Penh.
During this course, our trainer Ms. Virginia Hak trained participants on how to write concise emails that showcase their profile and skills. The session also focused on how to clearly convey one's main content to the email recipient and how to adapt communication styles based on different situations, whether communicating verbally or through writing. On 12 December, EuroCham Myanmar, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), is hosting Agrobusiness Forum 2019, focused on promoting good agricultural practices and responsible supply chain management among agrobusinesses operating in Myanmar.
The objective of the Forum is to provide a platform for agrobusiness representatives and Myanmar policymakers to openly discuss challenges and opportunities in implementing good agricultural practices and due diligence in supply chains, including practices related to trade and finance, labour rights and decent work, land issues, technologies and food safety, in Myanmar’s agricultural sector.
